Portraits With Soul – Westchester County, NY

“I’ve always believed everyone has a quiet kind of beauty—you just have to slow down enough to see it.”

I’m Jessica, a New York based photohgrapher, and my camera has taught me to pay attention: the look in someone’s eyes, the glint of a half-smile, the way their expression softens when they feel safe.

My photography journey began in December 2020, when I was living in Asheville, North Carolina. I needed a camera for a digital photography class at the local community college. A friend gave me his, and my love for photography was instant and all-consuming. I never finished the class, but I never put down the camera.

I knew right away I wanted to photograph people. But as a lifelong introvert, I didn’t have friends lining up to model for me. Determined to get over my shyness and learn portraiture, I started asking strangers on the streets of downtown Asheville instead. I was amazed by how many said yes. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me everything about connection, trust, and making someone feel comfortable enough to let their guard down.

That’s the heart of my work: turning everyday people into models by capturing them in ways that feel honest, artful, and unmistakably theirs.

In 2022, I began photographing live music in Asheville. What started as a dream quickly became reality, and I became a sought-after music photographer known for capturing the raw, electric energy of the scene. Though I focus on portraits now, that experience shaped how I see: always chasing real moments, genuine emotion, and the story behind every face.

If you’re looking for more than just pretty pictures—if you want portraits that feel personal, soulful, and truly you—I’d be honored to help tell your story. My approach is gentle and collaborative, focused on creating a space where you can feel comfortable, confident, and beautifully seen. Let’s make something timeless together.
